Back Yard Christmas Tree of Lights
Parts
- Tripod, tree trimmer, 10 ft conduit with threaded insertion, 3 hose clamps,
plastic sleeve, metal strap, star assembly, main hoist line and Velcro strap,
12 tent pegs, 10.5 ft measuring string, 12 wire loops, 12 strands of 100 clear
lights, plastic tie wraps, 100ft extension cord
Assemble trunk
- Remove blade and pulley assembly from tree trimmer and attach 10 ft conduit to tree trimmer with 3 hose clamps
- Wrap metal strap around bottom section of tree trimmer and slide plastic sleeve over the bottom
- Fasten the tree trimmer assembly into the tripod with the strap reinforcing the top bolts and the sleeve at the bottom bolts.
- Attach star assembly to threaded insertion on conduit and thread main hoist line through pulley securing the ends to the shaft with Velcro strap
Prepare anchors
- Using 10.5 ft measuring string, locate 4 tent pegs at the 90 degree points
- Locate 8 pegs putting 2 each at about 5.5 ft intervals between the 90 degree points
- Drive pegs in and place wire loops in top openings
Raise lights
- Attach strand (start at 25 lights from bottom) at each of the 90 degree points by running strand through wire loop and securing with tie wrap (one strand with plug at bottom and the other three with plug at top)
- Form loops at top end of strands using tie wraps, attach to fastener on star assembly and plug strands and star into each other securing wires with tie wrap
- Raise trunk with 4 strands attached, extend tree trimmer to 3.5 ft between extender clamp and conduit, and adjust number of lights at bottom of each strand until taught
- Attach strands at all other anchors (alternate plug/receptacle ends) forming loops with tie wrap at top ends and then plug strands into each other near loops
- Attach top loops of strands to snap hooks on main hoist line
- Raise main hoist line and secure at bottom then adjust bottom of strands until taught
- Plug strand at 90 degree point into extension cord and remaining strands into other 90 degree point strands
